ARTIST STATEMENT

"Discordant colors and the image of an amorphous grid are symbols of an emotional space where stasis resists movement. A grid is typically drawn with meticulous precision but here there’s irregularity. A dead flower-like motif is an allusion of the past. An unknown future is alluded to by the atmospheric lines. All these aspects of the painting fold into the notion of event horizon. A space of stasis in conflict with movement. It is this liminal space that these paintings are chiefly about."   - Kate Cummins
